The joy of the open ocean is calling YOU! Step out of the city into the wilderness!

You are a man in a leadership role (executive, senior management, or business owner) or climbing the world’s ladder. You need to take a breather and reconnect. You are familiar with many demands—from work, family, society, and your high standards. You don’t talk about it often but need a break and an understanding space where no one nags you. This challenge is for you.

This is the CHALLENGE:

• Does your life demand too much of you? The decisions, the responsibilities, the asks from everywhere?
• Can you step into silence and listen to your voice without the demands of others?
• Can you step away from the digital devices for 5 days?
• Is your overworking, overthinking and other behaviour – porn, alcohol, drugs, isolation, impacting your work or home life?

Escape to the untouched shores of Mozambique for a unique five-day digital, decision, demand, and deadline detox experience! Unplug to reconnect with your purpose and self, re-energize your focus at work, and connect with your family, humanity, earth, and yourself. Stop chasing the next deadline and target for five days, and remember why you do it in the first place.

In this challenge, there are no formal sessions where you must learn or talk about your feelings (I know you have a picture of a woman’s retreat in your mind – let it go; this is not like that!). Instead, it’s an integrative, experiential challenge, offering plenty of free time and a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded men who understand the challenges and pressures of your role and the demands of your life.

It’s a digital detox challenge, but don’t panic: cell phone signal is sufficient to use a data connection to respond to urgent emails should the need arise and stay in touch with loved ones.

It includes:

  • Return Ponta Do Oura transfer
  • 5 nights’ accommodation in SEMI – LUXURY Beach, single room – no sharing required
  • Healthy, delicious food – five generous two-course brunches
  • three delicious two-course dinners – (x 2 dinners at own expense in the vibrant village)
  • Teas and coffees
  • Code-of-conduct, Boat safety
  • 2 Educational, respect and awareness-based Dolphin Swims guided by Courtney
  • 1 Sacred Medicine Song & Sound Journey with Courtney
  • Deep Sea Fishing charter (4-hour charter with five men per charter)
  • Quad Bike Adventure
  • Photographs of your ocean experiences
  • Professional Snorkeling Equipment for x 2 Ocean Launches
  • Personal guide and facilitation of 5 days with Courtney and Mari
  • Plenty of wonderful beach time
  • Cultural exploration of our village

The challenge also includes these optional but irresistible extras for the adventurous and more spiritual among us:

  • A customised journal and learning module on human behaviour in the workplace and at home, which you can complete in your own time.
  • A personal one-on-one coaching session with Mari to reconnect to yourself, your family, team members, colleagues, your professional purpose, or your purpose beyond work.
  • Daily yoga sessions (don’t knock it till you try it!)
  • Other slightly woo-woo but powerful rituals and spaces, such as meditation, feet and hand washing ritual, letting-go burn ritual, and affirmation circle.
  • You can choose to create your experience, and no pressure or judgment is passed if you skip out on any of the activities to go with your flow.

Your host and connection facilitator: Mari Lee

Mari is slightly eccentric (the red hair is a warning clause) but highly effective in influencing and creating space for play, personal development, and transformation. Mari is a registered wellness coach and multi-global award-winning marketing and communication professional passionate about modern men. Tons of retreats, programmes, and spaces uplift women, but the reality is that communities for men are scarce. With just brothers, raising just boys, and working closely with men in executive and management roles for the past 25 years, Mari has developed a deep compassion for men in leadership positions and their daily demands. The societal narrative does not support men; Mari wants to shift that through less talking and acting. She works with men in her counselling practice, in her corporate career, and in her personal life, and she is inviting you to become part of a network that listens to men and empowers them with emotional language and space to take a step back and breathe, away from all the demands.

Your wilderness facilitator: Courtney Ward

Essentially a performer in the great arts of the divine, Courtney is a talented artist, actor, and musician. She is especially gifted in her spontaneous ability to apply her artistic gifts and musical talents to a group dynamic to aid personal transformation and creativity.
Since 1999, Courtney has worked passionately and intensively with the resident pod of Inshore Bottle Nose dolphins of Southern Mozambique as Halo Gaia’s owner, Ponta Malongane`s Ocean Safari guide, leading Dolphin Swim Facilitator and data collector. Through her intimate relations with the dolphins, her love of people and her love of the ocean, Courtney offers an extraordinary Ocean Awareness program.

Why are girls hosting it?

Why not… I’ve hesitated for years, although I know the men will enjoy it and need spaces like this. So, I’m taking a leap of faith and hosting it anyway. I will create the space; the men and the play and participate at their own pace. Maybe a future male co-facilitator will appear – who knows?
